A Few Delightful Things...

Monotropa uniflora
Monotropa uniflora
Spirea douglasii

There's no where else I'd rather be.
Nymphea ordorata
Monotropa uniflora is also called "Ghost Plant" owing to it's lack of chlorophyll or "Indian Pipe" if your feeling politically incorrect. All I'm saying is that if someone made me a pipe that looked like Monotropa, I would smoke it every day. Or just pretend like Bill Bailey.
I couldn't close enough to a grouping of pink Nymphea odorata to photograph with my tiny matchbox digital camera but you'll just have to trust me, They were there and they were beautiful. Monet would have shit himself.

Meconopsis baileyi var. alba
Lilim martagon

Meconopsis napaulensis
Meconopsis nepaulensis
Magnolia x wieseneri
Meconopsis napaulensis
Meconopsis baileyi

Went to visit Bill Terry (http://www.meconopsis.ca/) on the sunshine coast last week. His garden is truly the best I have ever seen. I'm looking forward to his next book and our next visit in August when I get the privilege of helping him plant next years Meconopsis.

Butterfly watching on Christmas hill

Lilium columbianum
Holodiscus discolor
Brodiaea coronaria

Yesterday was one of those endless blue sky days that we have been waiting for here in Vic. June-ueary finally ended and we headed up to Christmas hill to look for butterflies. Spotted a few swallow tails and something I was not at all expecting to see;   Lilium Columbianum, it's actually quite wide spread through out the park. This park is a real gem in the middle of the city (read; not a lot of broom) and if you have an afternoon  that needs a few butterfly's and flowers I highly recommend it.
